What You Need to Know About Music Copyright Violations and Your Instagram Content
Many Instagram users choose to use music to accompany their content. Music is a very effective way to convey a mood that complements a video, image, or other types of message.
Earlier this year, Instagram started warning users with music in their videos, stories or other posts about potential violations to copyright laws. The length of the music appears to be a factor, but if you have any music in your Instagram posts, stories or videos that does not follow copyright laws, you are taking a risk that your content may be removed.
If you receive a warning about a music copyright violation, you will need to respond promptly and prove that you have permission to share the music accompanying your content or else it will be removed. If you do not respond promptly with permission to use the music along with your content, you will receive a message much like the one below.
